Tool Concert

I went to see Tool yesterday, brutally awesome concert. We drove to Winston Salem in about an hour, which is the amount of time it takes to drive from one end of Charlotte to the other. Just goes to show how much traffic control and roads suck in Charlotte. Shame on you.
The band that opened for them was “Melt Banana,” a “noise rock” band from Tokyo Japan. Their guitarist used samplers and looped guitars with crazy effects making noises like jets and God knows what. It was pretty sweet. The singer has been described as a rabid poodle on speed. Overall, I was impressed.
Tool was Godlike. Their set was sweet, they performed the songs flawlessly, Maynard managed not to be a dick and actually said nice things to the audience. The laser show was awesome, they performed “Wing’s For Marie Pt. 2,” which is awesome because I hear they don’t perform that much. The lasers and imagery blended seamlessly. They also, during one song, has a drum solo contest between tool’s drummer and the drummer from Melt banana, their guitarist came onstage too.
It totally rocked, totally.
